Description

In this lesson, students will learn more new vocabulary in a reading test. Will discuss weird habits of some celebrities. better able to verbs to speak about work's situations. And if a student does not work he/she can speak about situations at school or university using phrasal verbs.

Main Aims

  • Students will be better able to speak about situations at work using phrasal verbs.

Subsidiary Aims

  • making a revision on Past and present simple through reciting situations at work with using our main aim "Phrasal Verbs"

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher ask students some questions related to the topic like "what do you do?" "Do you a good relation with your boss and colleagues"? let them speak about their jobs.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

Teacher will tell students about a situation happened with him at work with his boss using phrasal verbs e.g. "I could not put up well with my boss". and then ask them "have you ever been in a such situation at work or with your boss or supervisor?". Or T show them a short video in which a clerk is talking about his work.

Task (8-9 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Give them a task with clear and short instructions. The task is the students should talk about difficult situations happened with them at work and they have to use as many phrasal verbs as possible. Teacher divides them into groups.

Planning (6-9 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to plan students' reports

Student prepare to report back to the class how they completed the task. what was the difficult thing during conducting the task. How did they do the brainstorming? How many phrasal verbs did they use?

Report (6-8 minutes) • To allow students to report on how they did the task and how it went

Students in the groups should choose a presenter to report the task to the other groups. Students should choose the most interesting situation that drew their attention? Teacher listen and take notes.

Language Analysis (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

Teacher gives students feedback on their performance and should focus on the new phrasal verbs they used. Illustrate MFP to others. Then teacher should give them new phrasal verbs related to this topic and also focus on the MFP of each phrasal verb. e.g. -Get on with" -Run out of " -Do something over" -Put up with" -Stressing me out"

Language Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

Teacher ask them to repeat the task using the new phrasal verbs they have just learned and ask them to recite different situations and change the presenter and exchange roles and groups members. Or give them a new task.
