Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of the future simple tense in the context of making prediction

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice using a text about Professor and Chip in the context of making prediction about the functioning of Chips' new computer

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher will use the pictures provided in the reading section. she will ask questions about the present situation and what they think will happen in the next part of the Reading.

Highlighting (1-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The teacher will write down students' sentences on the board.

Clarification (3-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

The teacher will explain the rules of future simple tenses and ask students to make new sentences with new subjects afterward

Controlled Practice (1-2 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The teacher will use the practice on page 48 and asks students to complete the sentences with the use of Will or Won't. Then she will check the answers.

Semi-Controlled Practice (1-2 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The students must answer the practice on 119 in Student's book to make complete sentences.

Free Practice (4-6 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

asks students to write a paragraph about their plan for next Friday. they have to use at least 4 predictions.
