Description

In this lesson, learners will learn about what clothes to wear at work or at school.I will start with the lead-in, it will be a discussion about formal clothes and do wether they like to wear it or not.Then it's followed by pre-teaching some vocabulary that will help the learners in the following tasks.Then we have a two listening tasks, the first one will be for gist and the second one will be listening for specific informations.At last we will have a speaking task, about deciding the learners personality according to their most/least favourite colour.

Main Aims

  • Learners will have developed their skills of listening for gist and specific information in the context of what clothes to wear at work.

Subsidiary Aims

  • learners will develop they speaking skill by discussing about their personality according to the colours they choose.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start with asking them " from my clothes that I'm wearing what do you think I like to wear?", " is it okay to wear this clothes at work?" and I will tell them that I don't like to wear a uniform.Then I will ask them to discuss with their partner wether they like to wear uniform or not and why?.At last I will discuss their answers in open class feedback.

Pre-teach (7-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the following task and make it accessible

I will provide the learners with some vocabulary that could help with the following task by applying ( ECDW).I will elicit some of the vocabulary by pictures and some by giving them definitions, the first part of the vocabulary will help with the listening task. 1_ earrings 2_ a skirt suit 3_ tracksuit trousers The second part of the vocabulary will help with the follow up task ( speaking). 1_ confident 2_sociable 3_cheerful 4_ kind 5_ calm 6_ reliable 7_ bossy 8_ determined

Listening task 1 (9-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks

I will give them instructions about the first listening task" you will listen to four people talking about what they wear in work, I want you to match the person with their clothes they wear at work".Then I will give them a second to read the task then play the audio for them, and I will demonstrate the first part of the audio with them.While they are listening to the rest of the audio I will be monitoring them to make sure they have no difficulty with the task.After they finish listening to the audio I will ask them to check their answers in pairs, then I will provide them with an open class feedback.

Listening task 2 (9-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

After they finish the first listening task, I will give them instructions to the second listening task " we have 8 sentences here, I want you to listen again and find out if these sentences are (T) or (F). I will give them a second to read the sentences before playing the audio for them.i will stop the audio to demonstrate the first question with them, then play it again for them to continue solving the rest of the questions, mean while I will be monitoring them. After they finish solving the questions I will ask them to check their answers together and provide them with answer keys as a feedback.

Follow up task/ Feedback (10-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will divide them in to ( A) and (B ), then I will give (A) 8 coloured cards( red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, white) each card describe a personality(confident, sociable, cheerful, kind, calm, reliable, bossy, determined) then I will tell (A) to ask (B) about his favourite colour and his least favourite colour and why? then (A) will tell be about his personality according to his answer. But before they start with the task I will demonstrate with them.Then I will ask them to switch their roles and do the task again.Mean while I will be monitoring them and provide them with linguistic feedback on the board.
