Description

In this lesson Ss will practice the receptive skill listening in the context of "Wedding on a budget" taking about things that are needed to do to get ready for a wedding.

Materials

Abc Smart board, markers, speakers, touchstone book, copybook

Main Aims

  • At the end of the lesson Ss will be able to Understand a conversation about planning an event.
  • Use expressions like Uh-oh when something goes wrong

Subsidiary Aims

  • Listening to people plan a wedding; check what they agree on and what will they do themselves.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Warm up .... I am starting the game by raising my voice saying "Class Class Class" and they answer Yes Yes Yes ... our game today is "Guess my job" I will say some words about someone or something and you guess the answers. Lead in .... I ask the students a game called guess what is it ? A nice beautiful paper is sent to us to attend a wedding ? "an invitation" A person who has a camera in a wedding party ." a photographer "

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I show the students a photo of a wedding and ask them some simple questions ... Individually in five minutes answer these question orally.. How many people are there in the picture ? 14 Are they happy or sad ? happy Are they in the morning or in the evening? in the morning Have you ever invited to a wedding? yes Who have you gone with ? will you answer orally or on paper ? will you answer individually or in groups? Will you answer orally or written? orally Will you answer individually or in groups ? individually How much time will you take ? 5 minutes I write some complex words on the board like... ( professionally-expensive-criticizing) and try to simplify these words to the students

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Gist task... I asked the students to open the book P.67. and listen to the text and answer the question in the book... individually ... write on the book ...Check(/') the boxes. Will you work in groups or individually ? (individually) Will you answer orally or on book ? (on book)

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students listen to the text again and answer the question .... In groups...in 10 minutes....on a sheet of paper answer the following question Which things are Molly and Mark going to have done professionally? Which things are they or their families going to do themselves? make two lists. How will you answer the question ? on a sheet of paper in two lists How much time will you take ? 10 minutes will you answer orally or in groups ? in groups

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
