Description

In this lesson, students will learn some words ( social customs - to greet and split the bill) and can speak a free conversation about customs around the world.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will get into the class and greet the ss in a way related to the topic, shaking hands, bowing, and hugging. Then I will display a ppt asking the students to look at the pictures and work in pairs to think about what the people doing.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I will provide the ss with a reading text to read and guess the meaning of the highlighted words in pairs and find out if they and their partners do the same things. ICQs -Are you working in pairs? Yes -Are you reading first?

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will write the sentences on the board 'If we are meeting our friends' CCQ; Are we talking about a specific one? No 'Men usually shake hands when they meet' CCQ; Are we talking about a specific person? No When we generalize we usually use the plural

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I will ask the ss to work in pairs and act as if one foreigner and the other Egyptian then to write and explain to the foreigner; -social customs -to greet -splitting the bill then I will ask them to model it in front of the class as if it's an interview.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I will give the ss some more time to practice and to have role play. I will monitor and flying among them and to take notes; good ones and wrong ones then I write them on the board praising the ones and asking them to correct the wrong ones.
