Description

In this lesson, learners will learn how to write a letter which is the main aim and reading- revising on present simple and present continuous which is the sub aim.The lesson starts with a discussion about who didi you write letters to and why?,then it's followed by exposing them to a model to get the useful language.At last I will give them a writing task followed by feedback.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start with talking a bout writing and how much I love writing and why?.I will talk about how I used to write letters to my friends in every occasion they had, then I will ask them whether they love writing letters or not and if they write letters, who do they write to?.Then I will let them discuss in pairs.

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

In this stage I will expose the student to a model ( written letter) in page (73) in the students' book, which they are going to read and ignore the gaps, I will tell them to try and figure which picture is the one Melanie talking about in the letter.Mean while I will be monitoring and try to help them if they need anything, then I will ask them to check their answers in pairs.lastly I will provide them with open class feedback.

Useful Language (7-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will ask them to read the text again and fill the gaps by putting the verbs in the right tense.But first I will demonstrate the first two gaps with them and elicit the present simple and continuous from them and I will ask them to repeat after me the sentences that we solved.Then let them do the rest, after that I will ask them to check their answers together.I will follow that by giving them the answer keys to the question.

Genre analysis. (7-8 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I will give them some cut ups about the stages of forming a letter and I will divide them in to two groups and tell them to arrange the suitable sentences with the suitable stage.

writing task (10-15 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I will ask them to write a task'' I want you to imagine that you are on a holiday to any place you like and you will be writing a letter to your friend describing to her that place, And while they are writing I will be monitoring.After they finish writing I will ask them to give the papers and I will stick it on the board and ask them to go and read the letters they wrote and tell me which place you would want to go to for your next holiday.

Feedback and error correction (2-3 minutes) • to provide feedback on students' production and use of language.

while they are writing I will be monitoring them and after they finish I will give them linguistic feedback on the board.
