Description

Students will learn discussion language: agreeing and disagreeing politely and will have speaking practice at the end of the lesson.

Main Aims

  • To provide speaking practice:agreeing or disagreeing politely

Subsidiary Aims

  • To have an idea of children's eating habits.

Procedure

Warmer/ Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher asks the students:Did you have strict or relaxed parents when you were a child? and give time to think of things made them do when they were children. Students discuss their ideas in groups.Then give HO and discuss the questions in groups.

Pre-Listening (5-6 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

A picture is reflected on the wall. The students are asked questions 1. Who are these people?2. Where are they? 3. What are they doing? The students discuss their ideas.

While-Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

A handout is shown to the students and asked to work alone. They are instructed to answer the questions. Students listen to the recording and answer the questions in ex2.b. Then the answers will be checked.

While-Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

A handout is given to the students and asked to fill in the gaps with the names. After filling the gaps, the students are asked to work in pairs and check their answer.

Language Focus 1 (4-5 minutes) • To make the students understand the phrases.

T will divide the board into two columns, one part 'Agreeing', one part 'Disagreeing'. They will stick the correct expressions, and answers will be checked.

Language Focus 2 (4-6 minutes) • To make the students understand the phrases.

A handout is given and ask them to fill in the gaps in pairs. The students will listen to check the answers .Then the teacher will stick the answer key on the wall.

Feedback (8-10 minutes) • to make them express their ideas.

T will give HO and they will discuss in pairs about the topics they have.
