Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Tell a real story of losing weight about myself Show them 2 pics to visually expose Ls to the context Give them a question to brainstorm with a partner Give them some ideas to help their develop ideas Ask some Ls randomly to share their ideas

Pre-Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Show them 2 pics related to the listening track and ask Ls to check with a partner if they know anything about the these 2 diets and then share with the class. Check with the Ls to see if they would like to try these diets. Play the recording once, so Ls can take notes to see what each diet is like. Then compare their notes with other partners. In the end, ask some students to share their notes with the class.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Get Ls some handouts with statements about the diets in the track and ask them to read it before listening to the track. Play the recording, Ls listen and decide which is which. Then They check their answers with partners. Give them the key, then students have a minute to think and read the statements to retell the track to different partners.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Give Ls the 2nd handout to read to see if they can guess the part of speech for the missing words. Then they check their ideas with a partner. After that they listen to the recording and complete the handout. In case they need to listen twice they can have the chance to listen for the second time. Next checking their answers with a partner and finally giving them the key.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Show them some questions on the board to read first. Then regroup the Ls to have the possibility to explore more ideas with other different students. In the end, ask some Ls learners to present their ideas on the questions to the whole class.

Post-Listening • Learning the present perfect continuous uses

Ask students to locate a particular sentence in the text of the listening. Then Ls guess the name of the tense and it form. After that they are given the name of the tense with its +/- forms with some examples. After that they are given the 3rd handout to check 3 sentences in present perfect continuous and their use with a partner. What comes next is the key of the matching part. To help Ls see more examples of the tense they will have the 4th handout to do a more controlled practice. And finally, they will have the last handout to freely practice the tense in a speaking activity.
