Main Aims

  • To provide process and product writing practice of a opinion writing in the context of persuasive paragraph

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a a conversation about their opinion in the context of their favourite movie

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

the teacher will play a song about how important to have an opinion. she will ask the students to pay attention to the song's words. Ask the ss whether they can remember any words from the song. write down on board the words that are relevant to the topic on the board. Ask them do they think it's important to have an opinion in life? why?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

The teacher will show the SS some pictures of Pets and ask them about their favorite pet . The teacher asks the students to give her their reasons why they think this is their best pet. The teacher asks them to explain their reasons .by elaborating their reasons.and asking to give examples to support their opinions. for example.: why do you think the cat is the best pet? student: because it's fluffy. Teacher: Explain more!... How is it fluffy?

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

The teacher shows the students some examples on the board of different reasons with the explanation of these reasons .with different options. The teacher asks students to have a look. and asks them whether they want to add any reasons with explaining. The teacher introduce oreo writing through power point and explained the structure through a short paragraph . The teacher asks the student to apply the 4 parts of the OREO model on the writing passage. The teacher gives ss the first ho1 and divides students into groups. group 1 should write the first sentence and 2 different reasons with the explanation. group 2 should write the other 2 reasons and the last opinion sentence. Monitor the 2 groups . Ask them to pay attention to the checklist on the board. Ask the two groups to check each other writing.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

write the final draft after checking the whole parts of the paragraph in groups and ask each group to pick one and read loudly what they wrote.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Recheck the student's writings using the Feedback chart. Pay their attention to their mistakes gently by writing with a green pen .
