TP7 Writing
intermediate level

Description

In this lesson students will write a scary story This is why I need to smoothly put them in the context and clearly guide them to the main aim ( writing) through a sub-aim ( vocabulary).

Materials

Abc A vocabulary practice

Main Aims

  • Writing the context of a scary story.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of adjectives and adverbs related to the context of the main aim

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will set up the scene (turn the lights off/ Tun on a piece of background music: terrifying.) Then I will read the story to them in a scary voice.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I will provide the students with the model story through a vocabulary task. they will have to reorder the pieces of the story( already cut into three pieces). After that, I will provide them with the student's book practice( they have to classify time phrases into the box) Finally, ( back to the text) they will have to circle the adverbs, underline the adjectives, and put the time phrases into rectangles.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will provide the students with clear a meaning of any possible difficult word through a pre-teach vocab task.( CCQS and ICQS.)

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

First, I will ask the students to jot down ideas without caring about spelling or grammar mistakes. the rationale for this is to push them to write without any fear that might demotivate them. By doing this, students will write as much as they can (1st draft). Second, they will be provided with blank sheets to start the 2nd draft. At this stage, they will write sentences about a scary story. Third, they will exchange their work together for editing. Then, they will start the final draft. They will end up by writing a scary story. Finally, they will have to publish their writing in a gallery around the classroom for the publishing stage.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

While publishing their stories , I will make sure to to take notes about possible mistakes. Then, I will write on the board the mistakes and correct them before ending the lesson.
