Description

In this lesson, learners will read a text about surviving in dangerous environments, discuss to give a personal opinion, and distinguish the verbs followed with gerund or infinitive.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Introduce some pictures about spending some time in dangerous situations and ask learners to give their opinions about what are the dangers that they may face there. Learners will discuss these lists together.

Exposure (1-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Individually, learners will underline the dangers in the passage in a minute, then, compare their lists in pairs

Highlighting (2-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Learners will read the passage again to complete the gaps in the passage.

Clarification (2-3 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

the teacher will elicit the grammar rule from the learners

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Learners will answer questions about the verbs followed by gerund or infinitive.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Learners will write dialogue about accepting challenges with provided phrases
