Main Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will have developed their ability to listen for gist to specific information with particular reference to two people they need someone for advertising their new chocolate brand

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of the lesson, students will have developed their oral fluency with specific reference to planning to create a company poster and describe someone as well.


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows ss a picture of people and asks them how they look like and help them, one looking tall other is short, some of them overweight. ask them if they like chocolate and what type of chocolate and why or why not

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T shows pictures of different types of chocolate, then tell them on their friends' birthday what type of chocolate they will give as a gift and why? ss discussed in pair. by this stage T try to know what attracts ss to some chocolate. Then PTV, advertise, poster, attractive.

Listening for gist (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T gives the instructor to ss listen to match people in pictures A-D with the conversation. ss work in task. The teacher goes around to have some note or assist some ss if needed.

While-Listening #2 detatils (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Ss listen for specific information to write a description for each one of the people in the picture, how exactly the speaker describes them, ss work in pair and write.T goes around have noted for language feedback. T show answer key. Ss listen to answer the question, who has been selected to put his picture on the poster and why if they couldn't get it T paly the listen again , check ss answer, T help ss to answer by them self.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T put ss on the situation you create your company products or services ss work in pair. Then T tells the ss to work in pairs, T tells ss now you need to create your poster. choose the person and describe him/her .T scaffold some provide ss with some useful words like tall /short and so. Content and language feedback. T says good by to ss
