Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To engage the students and make them ready to the new lesson.

I will play with them a game called [correct me time]. I will say sentences in the past and the should decide where is the mistake. Then, I will ask them who will be the teacher for the correct me time.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students will read individually a text and find out the past simple tense. Through out the text they will find out irregular verbs.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will draw Ss' attention that we can't have two past in the sentence and Irregular verbs should be memorized well.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify that not all verbs are regular and follow rules, but there are some irregular verbs do not follow rules, we need to study them well. and how we pronounce them, such as the verb (read) in the past tense pronounce differently than in the present tense although they are written the same way.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I will give the students a text to fill in the gab with past simple tense verbs (regular and irregular verbs). They will read and fill in the gaps in pairs.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students will be asked use a graphic organizer and write things they did in the past and are proud of. (Personalizing)
