Description

In this lesson , students value the importance of healthy food items through a story listening context.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To identify the value of healthy food and to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy food.

Subsidiary Aims

  • speak about their favorite food and decide whether it is healthy or not.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To engage students

T sets a gallery walk to enable ss to recall previous language.

Exposure (6-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through listening to a story.

Ss listen to a story about the importance of healthy food. T asks them How unhealthy food affects Chacha

Elicitation (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T uses cards to elicit vocab related to healthy food and other for unhealthy one.

Clarification (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T divides the board into two sections for healthy and unhealthy items , asking ss to show the effect of each stuff and stick each item under its correct category.

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T passes fill in gaps handouts to check the concept

Semi-Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

SS are asked to write two statements , one about a healthy food item and the other for unhealthy one.

Free Practice (5 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In groups , ss speak about their favorite food , determine whether it is healthy or not and its effect on their health and body.
