Description

In this lesson, students will learn about like, love, hate and also writing a personal profile using them. The lesson starts with warm-up about like,love and hate and it is followed by reading and answering questions about teacher's profile( as a controlled activity). And then, they will fill in the gaps in other profile which was prepared by teacher in advance(semi controlled). Finally, they will create their own profile and we will discuss which one is the best and why as a freer activity.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a personal profile in the context of like, love and hate

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of language used for like,love and hate in the context of free time activities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will stick pictures of three face on the WB,one of them symbolizes love, the other one symbolizes like, third one symbolizes hate. T will try to elicit these words from the Ss. Beforehand, T will stick some activities pictures on the wall and want them go and find the activity they love and like and also hate. Give Ss 2 minutes to find and discuss it with their partner and then share it with WC.

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T will show her personal profile to the students and pass it to them.They will have a quick look at it and find the sentences with like, love and hate and they underline these words and check their answers with their partners.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T will give them a task which has true and false statements on it about her profile. T wants them to read the profile once again and tick the true sentences,then correct the false sentences about her profile.And check the answers with their partners. As a second activity, T will give some sentences which are not in an order and want them to write sentences in the correct order. T will swap the answer papers and want them to check their friend's answers.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T will provide them new profile which belongs to her friend. In that profile, there are some gaps to fill about her. T will give some words in the box and want them to put the words in their correct places. After that activity, T wants them to write their own profiles and stick them on the wall.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

After students finish their writings, T wants them to hang their papers on the wall and mingle around the classroom and find the best profile they think and discuss why it is the best as a group. After they talk about the best profile, if there is still time T will swap their papers and want them to find their friend's mistakes and discuss about them.
