This lesson will focus on teaching lexis (words and phrases) by setting CP and FP tasks in the context of of behaviour and attitude.

Main Aims

  • To introduce and practice different sets of phrases regarding behavior and attitude.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give students the opportunity to develop lexis and productive skills by exposing them to controlled practice and freer practice tasks.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- 5 mins - Introduce the topic - behaviour and attitude - very brief overview - Ask students to give some examples of behaviour and attitude - good and bad - Adapt exercise 1a, p.26 of the workbook for students to answer quickly - no pairwork for lead-in - Very brief OCFB T-S T-Ss

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

- 10 mins - Set task exercise 1, p.18 of the workbook - OCFB T-Ss

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

- 10 mins - Go over MFP of 4 words - Choral drill and individual drill T-S T-Ss

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

- 10 mins - Set task 1b, p.26 of the coursebook (shown on screen and sent to students as a message) - Students to answer questions individually then check in pairs via BORs - OCFB T-Ss S-S

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

- 10 mins - Freer practice - communicative task - Students to discuss in BORs questions set around behaviours and attitude - OCFB and DEC T-S T-Ss S-S
