Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of past simple and the past continuous in the context of travelling

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about Zatona travels to Dahab in the context of travelling


Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will ask the S if he has ever been to Dahab/ or any other city? and the T will elicit more details from the S about the trip

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The T then introduces Zatona to the S and starts narrating the story of Zatona on his way to Dahab. The T is expected to pause narrating and ask the S questions about the story in order to drill the target language.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The T is expected to pause while narrating the story to CCQ the S and to drill the target language. PS. The T won't be accepting short answers. So, he should encourage the S to provide only complete answers. - it's preferable for the S not to be seeing the story while answering the CCQ

Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

After finishing with the story. T will present a PPTX file. which includes the usage and the form of the past continuous. and use it as visual aid to help student build a better understanding to target language

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Won't be included in the Demo. The T gives the student some time to prepare about their own trip. and then present it using the target language.
