Main Aims

  • To enable students to write a blog post using present perfect continous and simple past in the context of hobbies.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To review the use of the present perfect continuous and simple past in the context of hobbies.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T. shares slide. T. asks Ss: " What do you like to do in your free time?". WC. T. asks Ss: " What do you know about rock climbing?", " Is it dangerous?" WC.

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Sample Analysis: Layout: T. shares a slide and shows Maria´s paragraph. T. asks Ss to read the paragraph. (2minutes). WC. T. asks Ss to read for a second time and find information to answer some questions. WC. T. asks some Ss to share their answers with the class. WC WCFB T. asks Ss to put the questions in order according to the paragraph´s sequence. WC.

Useful Language (5-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Language: T. shares a slide and shows 2 sentences. One is using the PPC and the other one is using the simple past. T. asks CCQs: - Do I play soccer now? 1. yes/2.no - Did the action start in the past? 1.yes/2.yes WCFB T. asks Ss to spot the mistake in 5 sentences. Ss have to type their answers using the chat box. WC. WCFB

Productive Task(s) (20-25 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T. shares a slide and reads the instructions. WC. Ss have to write their paragraphs individually using Padlet. T. shares link. Padlet. T. asks ICQ´s: - What do you need to write about? - How many minutes do you have? - Do we have to organize your paragraph in a specific way? T. shares a slide with a checklist.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T. shares a slide with the checklist. T. asks Ss to work in pairs and check his/her partner's writing using the checklist. Ss work in breakout rooms. Teacher monitors. ( 4 minutes). T. writes some sentences using whiteboard. Elicit answers from Ss.
