Main Aims

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To generate interest in the context of target language.

- T starts the lesson by holding HO1 and saying: "Now I want you to look at these two pictures - there are two people in each one - try to guess the relationship between them and the problem in each picture - you can work in pairs - you have 2 minutes". - T distributes HO1. - Ss finish guessing. - T asks around two Ss about their opinion. - T plays the audios and says: "Now we will listen and check". - Ss listen and check their answers. - T elicits the answers after each audio with Ss in O/C feedback.

Pre-teach vocabulary (5-7 minutes) • To enable Ss to complete the listening task without blocking vocabulary.

- T puts "pick up" and "give someone a lift" in two contexts for Ss to guess the meaning. - T checks understanding throughout CCQs. - T elicits from Ss on board "form" and "pronunciation" with full clarification.

Listening Task (specific) (5-7 minutes) • To expose Ss to target language.

- T holds HO2 and asks Ss to listen to the audio and fill out the gaps in the sentences individually. - T plays audios. - Ss finish the task. - T asks Ss to check answers with their pairs. - Ss check answers in pairs. - T nominates 4 Ss for O/C feedback.

Language Clarification (5-7 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of target language.

- T holds HO3 and guides Ss while answering the guided discovery tasks. - Ss finish the tasks. - T elicits answers from Ss and clarifies on board the meaning / form / pronunciation of will with drilling the contracted form (I'll) orally, in small groups and individually. - T distributes HO4 for all grammatical clarification.

Controlled Practice (7-10 minutes) • To provide Ss with controlled practice of target language in order to encourage accuracy.

- T holds HO5 and says: "Now you'll write full answers using (I'll) for offering and adding any necessary extra words" + Demo the task. - T distributes HO5. - Ss finish the task. - T asks Ss to check answers in pairs. - Ss check in pairs. - T asks Ss by their name to answer for O/C feedback. - T distributes the answer key.

Freer Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide Ss with freer practice of the target language in a more authentic xontext and promote fluency.

- T make Ss in small groups and distributes 10 cards with problems on each group. - T asks the Ss to keep all cards folded and in each group, each student will unfold the card, read the problem and provide a decision or offer using "I'll". - T demos the task with Ss. - Ss finish the task. - T monitors any language errors and provides guidance.

Content/Language Feedback (3-5 minutes) • To provide Ss with some error correction and feedback on their output.

- T nominates 5 or 6 Ss for content feedback and asks Ss if the decisions were reasonable? - T writes on board all language errors and elicits correction from Ss for language feedback.
