Description

In this lesson, the students will learn to provide listening practice for gist and specific information in the context of "Birthday Parties". The students will learn this through listening to audio and doing activities about the topic.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-T will start by writing on the board and asking three questions to the students related to the topic "Birthday Parties" ( ( MIN.) *How was the best birthday party you had or assisted? *What do you think about throwing big parties? *How is your dream birthday party?

Pre-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-T will write on the board an activity about adjectives for the students to had a better understanding of the following activities.

While-Listening #1 (2-4 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading task.

-T will tell ss to listen to an audio to get a general idea, then they will choose, which of these things are not mentioned in the text. *Where the family lives. *People at the party *Food and drink *The weather *People not at the party *Birthday presents. -Then the learners check the answers in pairs before OCFB (Open Class Feedback)

While-Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading task.

-T will tell the ss to listen a second the audio a second time but this time for detailed information to answer the following questions: -The ss will check the answers in pairs via (the teacher monitor here to see if the audio needs to be replayed) before OCFB.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

-Now that the students have the context of the text, they will answer with their own opinion about these questions with the class. *Have you ever had a party where things went wrong? *What happened? *How did you feel? and what was your reaction? *What would be your ideal party?
