Description

In this lesson students learn about the second conditional and some vocabulary about arts after a guided listening exercise done in the first two lessons. They start by doing a vocabulary exercise. Aftr that they move on to second conditional and ask and answer second conditional questions in groups.

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

We start by talking about the listening and I ask ss questions likw "what type of art are you interestedi n?" or "Would you prefer being a performer or speactator and why?"

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Since the first two lessons (the listening) work as the exposure stage, no further exposure is needed in this lesson. The teacher clarifies the meaning of first and the second conditional with extra attention on second conditional. Students do a matching exercise in pairs to understand the usage better. Teacher helps clarify the grammar further.

Controlled Practice (12-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students open page 139 and do 9.1 A and B as controlled practice.

Semi-Controlled Practice (12-15 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students are divided into pairs and given a worsheet with questions they need to answer using the second conditional. Teacher observes.
