Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shares the screen. The screen has images of birthday parties to have a visual aid. T asks the questions: "What makes a good birthday party?" T elicits answers from students. Gives a demo if there is a need to help the SS brainstorm.

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a listening

-Instructions: Let's listen to a short audio. -Keep in mind the following questions: - "Who’s talking?" "How old is he?" "What is he talking about?" -Learners listen and answer individually. (1 min) -Instructions: Don't tell me your answer yet. Tell each other the answer to the question -T sends questions in the chatbox. -Check answers in pairs, 2 mins. -T conducts OCFB. -T shows the text and highlights the was were parts. (1 min)

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T clarifies the meaning with CCQs. T moves post its to note if it is singular or plural, past or present. T drills to clarify pronunciation. T displays a chart to match the verb with the subject to clarify the form.

Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with initial practice of the target language to check accuracy and prepare students for more meaningful practice

CONTROLLED PRACTICE 1. -T displays 'Practice 1'. -Instructions: Convert the positive sentences into negative, and the negative into positive. -T demos first guided sentence. - Learners convert the sentences individually, 2 mins. -T conducts OCFB, and nominates students for answers. -T shows full answers. Scripted transition: Now, let's practice again. CONTROLLED PRACTICE 3. -T displays 'Practice 2'. -Instructions: Fill in the gaps. -T demos first guided sentence. -T writes the name of the learner in the slide. -T assigns a slide to each learner. -T shares the link to the jam. - Learners fill in the gaps individually, 2 mins. - Ss have 1 mins to check their answers in pais. -T conducts OCFB, and nominates students for answers. -T shows full answers.

Freer Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with freer practice of the target language

FREER PRACTICE: -T shares screen Instructions: Think about a birthday that you really liked, describe it. How was your best birthday? -T demos, answering the question briefly. (1 min) -T sends students to work in pairs (2 mins), then another (2 mins) with another classmate. -T conducts OCFB, and nominates students to share their answers or their partner's answers (2 mins)

Feedback and Error Correction (5-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

-T shows the mistakes made in the freer practice, also pronunciation mistakes, and correct sentences. Instructions: Take a look at the mistakes and in pairs find the correct ones and correct the mistakes. (2 mins) ICQ: Are they correct sentences? Yes.
