Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of electronic devices in the context of technology.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency conversation about the usage and the importance of electronic devices in real life context.

Procedure

LEAD - IN (WARM UP) (3 minutes) • To engage students into topic.

Students will answer this question in groups and then will share as a whole class.

TARGET LANGUAGE EXPOSURE (3 minutes) • To introduce vocabulary items.

Students will read a section of an adapted article using scanning technique to identify the electronic devices (vocabulary items).

LANGUAGE CLARIFICATION (8 minutes) • To clarify meaning, form and pronunciation.

Students will match pictures/ words to definitions to obtain the meaning and to identify electronic devices. Then students will answer two questions in order for them to elicit vocabulary items in sentences. Pronunciation will be practice by doing a drill in which I model the pronunciation and students will repeat. For example: What do you use these electronic devices for? I use the smartphone to watch movies.

CONTROLLED PRACTICE (4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice using in vocabulary about devices.

Students will complete a fill in the gap task, using the vocabulary words about technological devices. This will show students understanding of the new target language.

COMMUNICATIVE TASK (8 minutes) • To practice fluency while having a discussion.

Students will pair to answer a question in which they can use vocabulary items during a speaking activity. Do you think the importance of electronic devices increased during pandemic? Why? How has technology helped you during this difficult time?

Feedback (4 minutes)

Provide students with positive feedback on their communicative task and if needed delayed error correction.
