Elementary level

Materials

No materials added to this plan yet.

Main Aims

  • To provide deduction listening practice using a text about present continuous in the context of technology.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a present continuous in the context of technology

Procedure

Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. T will project on the screen the next three questions: -What comes to your mind when you her the word robots? -Imagine you can make a robot: what functions or powers would you like it to have? -Do you think robots can replace humans?

Pre-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

2. T will project on the screen the next content words: (slide 4) -Engineering -Microrobots -Fly -Growing crops -Food production -Milipedes 3. Teacher will elicit all students to pronounce the words, then nominate different students to pronounce each word. 4. Ss will match the words with their respective meanings using the annotation tool from Zoom. Then, provide feedback (show answer key).

While-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information listening tasks.

T will test if Ss can hear the audio properly before playing it. 5. T will let students know that they will hear an audio that talks about a man that makes robots, then proceeds to play it. 6. T lets Ss know that they will make an activity at the same time they'll listen the audio, then shows the slide showing the exercise (slide 6): T lets student know that they can complete the activity on their book (ex. B page 94). Then, T nominates one student to read the instructions, then demonstrates an example circling the first question.

While-Listening #2 (12-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

7. T introduces the next task (slide 8): Ss will listen to the audio again and they will fill in the blank the missing words. Before students start the task, T will ask Ss if they have any questions about the questions. When the audio finishes playing, T will ask if they finished all of the answers. If students couldn't complete all of the answers, they will check on the next step: 8. T lets students know that they will have 8 minutes in the breakout rooms to check their answers.

Post-Listening (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

9. Ss will play the game "finish the sentence". T will project on the screen different sentences related to technology or robots and they will have to complete the sentence choosing their own answer. T will demomstrate an example firs, then, as Ss share their answers, T will ask them to elaborate their answers to make a fluent conversation among all students. 10. When Ss finish, teacher will praise students for their good work and will wrap up the lesson.
