Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of health and fitness.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of health in the context of health and fitness.


Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. In pairs, write down ten things people can do to get fit. 2. Compare ideas with your partner. 3. Share your ideas with the class.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. Read the questions in the box. 2. Discuss the questions with your partner. 3. Write down your answers. 4. Share your answers with the class.

Useful Language (10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1. The students will underline the new vocabulary. 2. The students will list the new vocabulary while working on the tasks. 3. The students will chorally repeat the words to master pronunciation.

Productive Task(s) (15-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. In small groups, brainstorm things that make people happy or unhappy. 2. Compare ideas and discuss why you think your choices make people happy or unhappy. 3. Share your ideas with the teacher.

Feedback and Error Correction (5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
