My Listening lesson plan is based on the course book Speakout about famous people

Materials

Abc Course book ( Speak out)
Abc Audio
Abc laptop
Abc video projection

Main Aims

  • To provide gist, specific information, detailed and inference listening practice using an audio and many pictures about famous people in the context of family, friend

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice new vocabulary words

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (10-15 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

To do greeting teacher introduce herself in a creative way and asks students to do so. Then teacher shows them some pictures and asks the following questions: Who are these people? What are they famous for? Then show them the pictures which are mentioned in the course book after that teacher should ask these questions : 1) Who are these people? 2) What are they famous for? 3) Where are they from? Tell the students not to worry if they don't know them all. Elicit one or two answers. At this point it would be useful to practice how to say the people's names. Give student 2 or 3 minutes to discuss. Monitor to see what they know and what to expect in feedback. Elicit answers and discuss them 2 or 3 minutes part B: ( Ask students work in pairs and read the information about the people. Then for each person tick two pieces of true information and and put a cross by the false information. Apart from being a prediction exercise for the listening task, this exercise should also activate use of past simple. Give students time to read the information and then complete the exercise in their pairs. ICQ them. What are you going to do? How much time do you have?

While Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

Listening for gist Play the audio and ask students to listen carefully to the facts about 5 famous people. Then teacher asks the following general questions about the dialog.(CCQ): 1) Name three famous people mentioned in the audio track 2) Which one is your favorite character? Why? 3) How many of them did you know before? Listening for detail: Play the audio track for the second time and teacher asks students to check out their answers. Listening for specific information: Play the audio one more time.(Ask students to listen one more time and write down one extra fact about each of them. Then students should do part D.

Post Listening Tasks: (5-10 minutes) • feedback and more clarification

Play a game: Teacher pairs the students and give them some cards which include some information about a famous person and the others should guess who is that person in 20 seconds. The pair recognizes more more, is the winner of the game. Teacher writes down the points on the board. ICQ them. Students shouldn't turn the cards and if they do that. They will lose the point. Homework: 1)Write down a paragraph about your favorite celebrity , giving some information about: Where is he or she from? What's his/her job? Why do you like her? Notes: Try your best to use new vocabulary and also use the grammar was/were. 2) Do the first page of work book 3) Do the vocabulary book pages 56 , 57 4) Do the grammar book page4
