Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a speaking about the weekend/ weekly routine in the context of time/ routine

  • To provide clarification of prepositions of time: in/at/on in the context of time/ routine

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (15-20 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

first ask: how was your weekend?/ what do you do on the weekends? ** what is weekly routine? CCQ: is it just for one day? then how many days? is it for seven days? is it for a week? from Monday to Sunday? then ask: what is your weekly routine?

Test #1 (10-15 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Ask: - do you (an activity) on (a week day)? - does s/he (activity) in (time)? - do they (activity) at (hour/time)?

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Test #2 (20-30 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

conversation, page 40: (15 min) - Ss talk about the pic - role play - they make Qs about Tom and Liz listening, page 43: (15 min) -Ss give a summary - they listen to the audio and I ask Qs about it (part by part)

Free practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

hot seat - One volunteer seats on the chair - the others ask her/him about her/his weekly routine (y/n Qs)
