  • To provide fluency

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T tells that ordering the letters of the vocabulary from previous lesson, the topic will appear. Yet before writing the topic from the encoded squares, t wants ss to guess from the words.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Necessary vocabulary items are given through pictures and example sentences via Kahoot game. Ss in groups are required to infer the meaning of the keywords.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T first explains the questions and warns ss that they will listen only for one time. Then, ss listen for the main ideas of the audio. Then they compare notes with a partner. Exercise 3

While-Reading/Listening #2 (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Ss listen again for details. Exercise 4

While-Reading/Listening #3 (5-6 minutes) • o provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T gives a table with guiding sentences for ss to take notes on. It is given instead of the chart on p.72 in order to assist them during the process as the class is new to note-taking. This chart is also an explicit exposure to the expressions for giving recommendations which they will use in post-listening presentation.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

T makes groups of 3. Each group takes a poster template. They need to make a short speech on World's Bicycle Day as an organization. They should have a poster to present. While presenting they are required to use the glossary from the beginning of the lesson.
