Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about an event review

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask students to talk about the following questions. 1. Have you ever seen any well-known bands or singers in concert? 2. If not, which band or singer would you like to see?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading

I will ask students to read a sample text of the review of an event, and then ask the following questions. 1. What did the reviewer like about the concert? 2. What didn't he like?

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Students will review meaning, form an appropriacy of some useful language through a self-discovery Jamboard activity.

Productive Task (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I will ask students to write their own review of an event they have attended recently and encourage them to use the target language studied in the previous stage.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Students will work in pairs and share their event reviews noticing the words or phrases used to emphasize the things they liked or disliked about the event they describe. Later, I will provide feedback and delayed error correction.
