Description

In this lesson, the students will use some of the vocabulary and the grammar they learned to speak about animals in different contexts.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of animals.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of superlatives, adjectives and expressions in the context of animals.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. In pairs, ask each other the questions in the box. 2. compare answers. 3. Share your answers with the class.

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1. In pairs, read the descriptions in the box. 2. Think of animals that fit each description. 3. Share your ideas with the class ( Say the whole sentence).

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

1. In pairs, read the expressions in the box. 2. Think of the meaning of each one. 3. Discuss your answer with your partner. 4. Share your answers with the class.

Free Practice (10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1. In small groups, the students will start preparing for the free practice: a. Choose one person to do the writing. b. Choose a topic. c. Make a list of the main ideas/components. d. Start writing. e. Submit your work as a group.

Feedback and Error Correction (5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Provide the students with feedback on accuracy and fluency.
