Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will show Ss two picture of two celebrations: mother's day and day of the dead. T will start an open class discussion by asking the Ss the following questions: - Do you know these celebrations? - When and where are they celebrated? Ss share their answers openly with the whole class.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T will instruct Ss to listen to an audio talking about the two celebrations. T will instruct that while they listen, they need to complete the texts by using the relative clauses from the box. Here T provided a Google Doc. T will pair Ss up and send them to breakout rooms to compare their answers. Ss share and compare their answers in pairs. T will conduct OCFB.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T will use the gist task answer key to elicit the target language. T will go one by one and ask the following ccq's to elicit knowledge from Ss and transition to MAFP: -Are we talking about a thing or people? People. Could all servants visit their mom? No, only servants who lived away from their families. -When could they go and visit their mom? On Sunday. Was it just a regular Sunday? No. -Has it always been called that? No, it’s a day which became known as ‘Mothering Sunday’. -Who made the breakfast, people or a machine? people/children. -Do families remember objects or people on November 2nd? People/Their relatives. Alive relatives? No, relatives who have died. -What do they eat during the special picnic? Unusual food including chocolate and sweets. Is it regular sweets? No, it’s chocolate and sweets which are made into a variety of animal or skull shapes. Ss will respond to the questions by relying on the text and previous knowledge.

Clarification (5-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T will ask Ss to answer a guided discovery task by using Google Forms. Here T will cover meaning and form of the TL. Ss will answer the task individually and then check with the whole class. T will conduct OCFB by showing the results of the Google Forms. When checking the meaning sections, T will ask the following ccq to check appropriacy: -Would you speak like this with your friends or with your boss? both. T will check pronunciation by playing a recording of the model to elicit the stress from Ss. Here T will use Google Slides.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T will instruct Ss to complete the items of a survey by using 'which' or 'who'. T will provide a Google Form link for Ss to answer the task. T will conduct OCFB by showing the answer key.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T will instruct Ss to answer the previous survey with a partner and ask further questions. Here Ss are told to answer the follow-up questions by using relative clauses. T will pair ss up and send them to breakout rooms to share and discuss their answers. T will conduct OCFB and nominate 1-2 Ss to share one interesting thing they heard from their classmate.

Feedback (2-3 minutes) • To praise good use of TL and to correct errors in TL use

T will ask Ss the following question: -What do you think about today's class? Do you like talking about celebrations? Ss will respond with their own opinions. T will conduct DEC.
