Description

By the end of this lesson, students will have practiced reading for information (CEFR B1) in the context of shopping.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed and inference reading practice using a text about Shopping in the context of Shopping opportunities

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of vocabulary in the context of Shopping opportunities
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a sharing opinions and interacting with other appropriately for CEFR- B1 level in the context of Shopping opportunities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher will present images and ask students to make predictions of what our lesson is going to be about.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Students will discuss the images in groups and decide which is the best kind of shopper and why.

While-Reading #1 (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The teacher will present the question and ask the students to go through the text and note down the answers individually

Feedback (8-10 minutes) • To provide correct answers and task related feedback.

The teacher will send students to the break-out rooms to share their answers. The teacher will bring them back to provide task-related feedback by eliciting answers from the students.

Speaking Task- Fluency practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students spoken fluency to expand their understanding of the context.

The teacher will present the task to decide as a group why do they prefer shopping online? or why do you prefer shopping at the mall?
