Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T greets the class, introduces topic of having online friends, asks - What is your opinion on meeting people online? (Open Class)

Exposure (5-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T shows sample Activity: Read and tick the 6 elements included in the text. There are two options that you do not need. + answer 2 question about the purpose of the text. (3 min) ✓Subject ✓Greeting X Formal language ✓Introduction ✓Main paragraph ✓Closing remarks ✓Signature X Contact information -What kind of text is it, a review or an email? (email) -What is the writer's purpose? (to invite a friend to visit them) Ask ss to submit answers, use response tab in GForms to conduct OCFB.

Useful Language (5-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Activity: Tell students to go to nearpod.com and join class with code. Complete the outline of an email by putting the expressions under the label they belong to. OCFB with response tool on nearpod GSlides: show students same sample email with highlighted adj, ask: - Are the highlighted words adverbs or adjectives? (adj) - Are they positive or negative adjectives? (+) - Do you think they make the invitation sound appealing or not? (yes)

Productive Task(s) (20-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Activity: Imagine you have a friend or a family member who lives in another country. Write an email inviting them to visit you. Tell them about places you will take them to and activities you will do together. Remember to use adjectives to make it convincing!

Feedback and Error Correction (10-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
