Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide Ss reading for gist also the opportunity to assess themselves before the teacher gives feedback

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks students. Have you ever heard of reports? When was the last time you wrote a report? What was it about? T let some Ss speak.

Sample Analysis (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T will show them a Report (layout) to show structure, useful language and some other aspects of the Report . They will analyze structure. Title Introduction- one paragraph Body - three paragraphs Conclusion- one paragraph T sends students to a G-forms where they have to choose the correct answer (about the paragraphs). Then T will give the Ss a list of vocabulary they will have to use to write their own Report. The words/phrases are: According to- is stated or reported by somebody/something (we use it to make reference) such as- for example Generally speaking -used to introduce a statement that is true in most cases but not always In the main- it is similar to generally speaking and on the whole on the whole-it is similar to generally and in the main In his view - In his opinion T asks Ss if they have a doubt on the meaning of some of them and gives a brief explanation to the ones that need it. After giving the explanations upon them T asks some CCQs to see if students understood (and if students do say they do not have doubts CCQs will be used to see if they really know the vocabulary)

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

By this stage Ss have already seen an example of a Report. T will ask Ss to write their own Report (free topic) following the stages and using the language previously given. also they will use a template wich will be provided to them by the T.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T will hand Ss a checklist to do peer feedback. T will send Ss to BOR in groups of three and each one of them will share screen and present it to his classmates. Classmates will mark the chacklist and give brief comments on their classmates report. (two minutes per student) Meanwhile T will be monitoring each BOR and writing errors for later DEC. After Ss comeback from BOR, T will ask for a volunteer to share his/her screen to give more feedback (checking on errors, hard to read sentences, etc...) If there is enough time T will start DEC.
