In this lesson, Student will get to talk their best friends and form questions using does(he/she) based on their previous grammar lesson forming questions with present simple.


Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a discussion in the context of friends and daily routine.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of Present simple questions in the context of Friends and daily routine


Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T gets asks one of the ss to act the word "best friend" to the whole class. Ss try to get the word T draws a picture of two people(a boy and a girl) try to elicit the words (male and female)

Exposure (2-4 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Ss work in pairs to tell their partners their best friend's name and if this friend is male or female. This is mainly included so that students will know whether to write questions with he or she.

Useful Language (5-7 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Back to the drawings again. T will place a picture of a food item and a cigarette next to the drawings. T elicit examples for questions from the class (e.g. what food does she like to eat?/does he smoke?)

Pre-productive activity task (5-7 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Ss work on their own to write five words using the words given in the boxes in ex 9b page 41 T provides support if needed ICQ: are you writing 2 questions? Are u working with your partner or alone?

Productive skill task (5-7 minutes) • To get students to practice the target langnguage

Ss work with their partners to ask questions about their best friends. Teacher monitors to write errors to be corrected later and for any support needed ICQ: are you working alone? Are you asking you partner about his brother?

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T writes ss sentences on the board ask the WC if their are any problem with the sentences. T drill new structure with WC many times.

Pre- wrap up activity (3-5 minutes) • to prepare students for the task and make it more comprehensible

Students work in pairs to answer the first task. Students will have to choose the right preposition in a text about a life story of a partner. T asks some ICQs to make sure they do get the task.

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with more practice.

T gives 2 HOs student A and Student b Ask ss A to work together to fill the gaps first first to form the question by eliciting them from the text.

Wrap -up activity • To make sure Ss get enough speaking practice

Now ss work with different partner. student A work with student B. Ask the questions they have created with their partners. According to the information they get they will fill the gaps in the texts. T give instructions and make sure they understand the task.
