Main Aims

  • To provide process and product writing practice of a essay in the context of pros and cons of technology.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and clarification of technology words in the context of pros and cons of technology.


Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

How vital is technology to you? How long can you live without any technology? 1. The students will discuss the questions together. 2. The students will share some of their answers with me.

Exposure (10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. The students will read two lists of the pros and cons of technology. 2. After reading the lists, the students will then mark the ones they can relate to or affect their lives directly, whether they are pros or cons. 3. The students will share their pros and cons with me and briefly explain.

Useful Language (5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

At this stage, I'll write some helpful vocabulary on the board that the students might use. 1. Briefly explain meaning, pronunciation and form 2. Chorally drill a few times.

Productive Task(s) (20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. The students will begin writing (maximum two paragraphs). 2. I'll be around to provide support with the emerging language and ideas.

Feedback and Error Correction (3-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I'll provide feedback mainly on accuracy.
