Main Aims

To provide gist reading practice using a text about The man behind KFC in the context of Restaurant

Subsidiary Aims

To provide clarification, review and practice of Past continuous tense in the context of Biography

Procedure (30-60 minutes)

Presentation (10-20 minutes) • Presenting the context to the students

In this stage, students will be presented some indirect information about the topic for example, a picture of the word biography will be shown on the board then asking them what do you know about biography. Specifically what tense do we use in biography, this technique is used to brainstorm their information and build a conversation between teacher and the students

Practice (10-20 minutes) • To practice with them the grammar point.

In this stage, students will be exposed to a handout that practices the form of the past continuous with some exercises about the tense

Production (10-20 minutes) • Answering the questions

In this process, questions about the topic should be answered in a proper way, this shows whether they read the text or not, and they read it for the gist; to extract specific information or not.
