Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide practice and revise questions with "like" to know more about it depending on the context of use.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of when talking about personality, physycal appearence and hobbies in the context of when asking or been ask about it, by using the correct stucture and vocabulary
  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of describing, talking or anwering questions with "like"

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Ss are going to work in pairs. they will discuss what they can see on the picture based on the expressions, how they look like, and everything they can share. T will share the screen if there are no more than 3 Ss, if 4 or more attend the session, they will be sent to breakout rooms and a Jamboard link will be shared for them to see the pictures. They will have 2 minutes. 2. T will nominate one Ss to share what they found.

Text Work (gist reading task) (6-7 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

1. T will share the screen for students to read the text and select the most appropriate idea based on the options and the conversation. Ss will discuss with a peer their answer. 2 minutes to read and discuss. 2. T will nominate a S to share the answer the whole class will say if they agree or disagree and why. 3. OCFB.

Presentation (MFP) (12-15 minutes) • To provide plenty of opportunities to practice target productive skills

T will explain the types of questions that we can create with the word "like". • What does she look like? • What is she like • What do you like? Meaning: 1. Ss will work in pairs in a Jamborad for them to analyze what each type of question is about. 2 min. 2. A s will be nominated to share some answers. 3. OCFB. T will explain what each question is about. Provided examples if needed. Form: 1. T will explain the differences in each question and the part of speech that "like" takes depending on what is asked. 2. Explain how to answer each question. Pronunciation: 1. Show week and strong words for each sentence 2. Give examples for ss to notice and check which one is the correct way to ask.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To practice the target language

1. T will share with the Ss a link to Google forms. They will work individually and select an option according to what fits the better on sentence, similar to gap-fill. 3 minutes. 2. Ss will check their answers with a peer. 3 minutes 3. S will aks a s to share the answers 4. OCFB. *This can be done while ss share their answers* 2-3 minutes

Freer Practice (7-8 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1. Ss will be asked to work in pairs. S1 will ask S2 the questions seen during the class, and they will describe someone else they know using vocabulary related to that question. They both need to have a casual conversation using the questions and answer them. 5 minutes to practice, T will monitor them. 2. T will nominate one S to share what they talk about. Take notes based on their language use.

FB & DEC (2-3 minutes) • To correct students on their use of language

Based on the notes of the freer practice, T asks ss for the mistakes on some sentences for them to correct themselves. OCFB after ss analyzes their mistakes.
