Description

In this lesson students will have practiced the countable and uncountable objects through productive skills, based on realia and pictures on the projector. They will also have revised vocabulary of food and names of dishes through a listening task. They will have a controlled practice putting in order the steps of cooking a dish. Then they will have freer practice writing down the steps of cooking their own dish.

Main Aims

  • To provide speaking practice in a describing dishes in the context of food

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about food program in the context of in the context of names of dishes

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

*Start by speaking about my food diary the day before. .*Show on Projector three sentences: For Breakfast I had (a)(an)(some).............. For lunch I had (a)(an)(some).................. For dinner I had (a)(an)(some)................. * Ask ss to write down in pairs what did they have the day before. *content feedback: Do you think your partner like healthy, fast or luxurious kind of food?, like Frank, Lucy and Hannah.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

*Pre-teach vocabulary 'onions', tomato', 'red wine'. *Ask students: what is their favorite food program? *Give an idea about the listening task before listening * Set listening task , demonstrate with ss. * check in pairs. *Provide answer key. * Listen again for specific information. Does Belinda like Colin's spaghetti bolognese

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

*Play on the projector short video how to cook pasta with chicken. * Give cards to students with the steps ask them to put in order. *Demonstrate * content feedback

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

*Ask ss to describe their favorite dish in steps. -First we ...... - Then we...... - Next..... *Monitor and take notes.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Highlight on board the correct answers and mistakes in previous task.
