In this lesson students are going to read a text about the history of ice cream; the main focus is the reading skills and speaking.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At warmer stage teacher will ask students to talk about their favorite food and ask them if they know about the history of the food or where the food comes from.

Pre-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To prepare the students for the text

the handout will be given to students. it contains some pictures; students should find the connection between photos. they have to talk and guess what the text is about.

Reading #1 (8-10 minutes) • Skimming

At this stage students read the text quickly for general understanding and the T asks them some questions about the general idea of the text

Reading #2 (8-10 minutes) • Scanning

Students scan the text carefully and at this stage teacher will ask some specific questions about the details of the text.

Free Practice (10-14 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In free practice students talk about foods that they like to taste . if they had an opportunity to taste new food what would it be.
