In this writing task, the students will describe their favourite famous person. It could be an athlete, artist, etc. They will focus on their appearance and personality.

Main Aims

  • To provide process and product writing practice of a essay in the context of favourite famous person.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of adjectives in the context of describing your favourite famous person.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. In pairs, the students discuss the question: Who is your favourite famous person? Why? 2. The students share their answers with the teacher and the class.

Exposure (5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. The students will research their favourite famous person to learn more about them. 2. The students will list facts about their favourite famous person.

Useful Language (5-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1. At this stage, the teacher will provide the students with key vocabulary and expressions they might use in their writing. 2. The key vocabulary will be mainly adjectives focused on appearance and personality.

Productive Task(s) (20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. The students will begin writing. 2. The teacher will provide support with emerging language and ideas.

Feedback and Error Correction (5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language
