Ss listen and read about shopping, practice how to express liking and disliking certain activities using like+ing and practice what they learned in a personalized activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide practice of Like + ing in the context of shopping and have ss express their likes and dislikes at the end of the lesson

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

ask and show on projector “do you like shopping?”ask class to do a show of hands.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Tell ss a shopping story demonstrating target language [elicit new vocab by miming or pictures]

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Listening 3- move on to next slide show them exercise 1a [picture from book] Ask: do you like shopping? Tick{Mime it} the things you like buying. Let ss finish then let them ask each other in pairs “i like buying clothes, what about you?” model the question to them before the activity, pick a student tell him pointing at yourself “i like buying clothes”, point at him and ask “what about you?” 4- 1c open the listening track and demo the first dialogue. Play the track till the end then ask ss to check with each other Play the track one more time then show them answer key on the projector

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

5- 1d demo the first one with the class, try every word in choices in the sentence,”is it i hate buying to clothes shops with my girlfriend” engage the students with body language to hint if necessary Ask them to complete the rest of the exercise alone After they are done play the track then let them check together after. Grammar 6- 2a have the four words [hate-don’t like-love-like] on the projector Demo the first one with them, elicit the answer with antonyms Ask students to check with each other then show answer key on projector

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

7-p129 4Bb…tell students you want to introduce them to Matt and ask them “what do you think Matt hates?” And point at the picture…elicit Matt hates doing housework…ask ss to work in pairs, then ask ss individually what does Matt [love,like,doesn’t like,hate]

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

8- 2b show ss on the projector the words they I’ll use to make sentences with (like,don’t like,love,hate) demo the first example”I don’t like buying clothes because they cost too much” Put them in pairs and ask them to do the exercise with each other.

Reading

10- 3a students the paragraph on projector and ask them to read it and fill the gaps with men and women then give them the handout
