In this lesson Ss will learn about past simple and present simple passive. the lesson will start by discussing with them their favorite news sources: newspapers, news channels, radio news programs, news apps. they will be asked to say why they liked them.

  • To provide clarification of fine, annul, trainers, ordinary, bridegroom, rumour in the context of pictures and definition

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'm going to talk about some events that happened last week, telling them about my favorite news sources, and I'll show them some pictures of famous news channels before I ask them about theirs

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I'll use some pictures to introduce some vocabulary that they will need them later during the lesson

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I'll use handout to try to elicit whatever information they have about the target language. I'll clarify the both forms of past and present passive

controlled practice • to be able to identify the target language in a context

Ss will be asked to underline all the passive forms in the text

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

I'll provide them with a text, and they will be asked to chose the right form of the verbs. for example the woman ( attacked/ was attacked) by a burglar.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

it's a mingling activity as they will be given handouts about a messing person and they will asked to investigate the mystery of his disappearance
