Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

# Show the ss some pictures and ask them different questions. - What do you think? Are they young people? Do they follow a special life style? -Do you know people live long lives? Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Make cards of the adverbs of frequency: They should be the size of half a piece of paper. Each card should have one adverb. always sometimes usually often hardly ever never Tell the ss that one side of the wall is 0% and the other end is 100%. They have to place the cards between these two numbers. For example, always is 100%. Allow the ss to work alone for 2/3 minutes. Then show the answer key. It’s in the teacher’s book.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

. 0% 100% never hardly ever sometimes often always Drill the pronunciation of the adverbs.

Clarification (5-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-hardly ever I hardly ever go to the cinema. I go twice a year. Do you think it's a little or more? Little -Ask the ss for one sentence from the first paragraph of the reading text using always and one using never. Write them on the board. Takanashi always walks three kilometers a day. He is never stressed. Ask the ss to tell me the grammar words – Takanashi always walks three kilometers a day. Subject( pronoun) + adverb of frequency + verb -Show the ss that the adverbs of frequency always comes before the verb / between the subject an the verb like the previous examples. - Also I will notice that they come only after verb TO BE( am, is, are) He is never stressed. S+ Verb to be + adverb of frequency I will tell them that (sometimes & usually) can come at the beginning of the sentence. Sometimes she takes a taxi. Usually we use Uber.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ex2 Reading Do 2a and 2b. (this text will prepare them for the speaking task) Demo. Now pre-teach: portions, martial arts and meditate. Ex4.
