Description

This is an elementary listening and speaking lesson taught to Local Development students at URACCAN-University. The class will provide students with innovative tech tools that will engage them in the lesson, and somehow, innovate in the classroom through the use of their cellphones in the learning process. Besides, the methodology implemented in the class will allow students to work in an intercultural environment where every individual will perform activities based on their own perspectives, values and beliefs.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and detailed listening practice using a text about everyday activities in the context of routines

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of frequency adverbs in the context of daily routines
  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of daily routines

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T plays the song Learners listen and try to sing T conducts OCFB and writes on the whiteboard as part of routines: I listen to music

Pre-teach vocabulary (6-10 minutes) • To cover important vocabulary to aid completion of the tasks

T presents different words and phrases used to talk about daily routines: -What's your typical day like? -I usually... -The first thing I do in the morning is... -After that, I... -Then, I... -I wash my face and brush my teeth Students practice pronunciation T demos completing one phrases T models and nominates one student to complete one phrases Ss answer the question: What's your typical day like?

While Listening (10-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

-T provides a link to a video about daily routines vocabulary -learners watch the videos in pairs -learners write the activities described in the video -learners prepare to report the characters everyday activities -T provides OCFB

Post listening (15-20 minutes) • To provide students with opportunities to practice language

-Learners gather vocabulary and phrases to talk about routines -Learners work in pairs to talk about routines -T monitors and give personalized feedback -Learners present their daily routines -T gives OCFB -Language to praise, correct and reformulate
