To provide clarification and practice of present progressive in the context of daily activities
Procedure (24-30 minutes)
The teacher will sit on a chair pretending to read a newspaper and will try to elicit the target structure.Once elicited (at least partially) the teacher will clarify the structure using the visualization techniques using fingers.Once different variations are introduced the teacher will put the structure on the board for further practice.
Using the sentence on the board the teacher will do some substitution drills to make sure the students achieve enough accuracy on the target structure.
Students will be divided into three or four groups depending on the size of the class. Each group will be given a picture and will be asked to make as many sentences as they can on the picture. Then as a feedback one student from the group will give other groups a report of the sentences they made. The group which made the most sentences will win.
