Description

In this lesson, the student tries to gain an opportunity to enrich vocabulary and learn how to talk to someone about events occurring in holidays. The teacher tries to help her improve her listening and speaking skills.The student will be motivated by the short movie at the beginning and learn the new words thorough some pictures. She listens to the CD and pays careful attention to the pronunciation. The teacher gives the student some tips related to pronunciation.Then, she tries to talk about her idea about holiday traditions. Finally, she is given a worksheet as an assignment.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. Greet the student 2. Ask how she spent her weekend 3. Ask what she sees in the pictures of the book and guess the topic. 4. Ask her to guess where the people in the pictures are from 5. Show a short video about Al-Ahda and Chuseok

Exposure (5-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. Show some pictures describing the new words 2. Ask her to find a relationship between the picture and the meaning of the new word 3. Give the definition of the new words 4. Read them aloud 5. Ask her to make sentences with the new words

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1. Ask her to close her book and listen to the CD 2. Play the CD 3. Ask her what she understands in a few sentences 4. Give her some tips related to pronunciation 5. Play the CD 6. Ask her to repeat after playing sentence by sentence

Productive Task(s) (5-6 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. Ask her to talk about a specific tradition in her country 2. Ask her what people usually do at this occasion 3. Ask her what she wears at this occasion 4. Ask her to talk about one of the popular holiday traditions in her homeland

Feedback and Error Correction (8-9 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

1. Give her a worksheet including puzzle words and matching questions 2. Ask her to make a story consisting of the new words
