Description

In this lesson, students will be provided with speaking practice to share about incredible stories.

  • To provide practice for engaging a listener and show interest when sharing in the context of incredible stories

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. T greets and starts the lesson by showing some images that suggest the topic of the lesson. T will ask “what do you think the story is about? 2. T shares the images and asks learners to discuss in BORs (groups of 3 depending on the students´attendance) what they think of the story according to the pictures they see in the jam board.

Content Preparation (6 minutes) • To prepare learners for the context and give them a chance to share opinions.

- T shows the previous images in order and tells Ss about a story named “El Cadejo” where the target language will be used. - T asks Ss to interact during the story by using some expressions given in the jam board, such as: Really? How amazing animals they are!!! That´s an incredible animal!! No way!!! You´re joking!!! - T asks Ss to work in groups and discuss the following questions. Was this story interesting or boring? Why? What makes an incredible story? ICQ’s *STUDENT LED

Language Preparation (4-6 minutes) • To prepare students with useful language and expressions to talk about incredible stories.

T displays some phrases used to engage the listener and show interest. T shares a google form for Ss check meaning. Then elicits from students the meaning, form, and pronunciation (take into account stress and intonation) T explains these language items for speaking phrases by dividing them into two groups Engaging the listener: - I heard this incredible story about … - Someone told me about… - You´re not going to believe this, but… Showing interest: - Really? - How amazing / surprising…! - That´s awful/incredible…! - What do you mean…? - No way! - You´re joking!

Speaking Task 1 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students an opportunity to practice speaking fluency and expand on what has been learned.

- T shares the jam board link and sends Ss to work on speaking task 1 in the BORs. Instructions: - By using the pictures, create an incredible story, tell your partner about it using the phrases to engage your listener, when you listen use the phrases to sound interested in the story.

Speaking Task 2 (6-8 minutes) • To provide students an opportunity to practice speaking fluency and expand on what has been learned.

- T asks Ss to work on the second speaking task in the same BORs. Instructions: Tell your partner about an incredible story you know. - Use the phrases to engage your listener - When you listen, use the phrases to sound interested in the story your partner shares.

Free Practice (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

OCFB 1. T conducts DEC (Both accurate and inaccurate language). 2. T uses board to write and correct some mistakes made during the speaking.
