Subsidiary Aims

  • To encourage students to identify grammar structures and use them properly in real life when having conversations about routines or when the present simple is needed.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will play a video about my daily routines. I will ask students if they would like to share their routine. I will let 1 or 2 students to share their routine.

Preparation (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with useful language sections they can use in the speaking task.

I will divide the group in teams and send them to breakout rooms. I will share a jamboard link where they will match the language sections about daily routines with the picture that corresponds. We will come back to the main room to review answers and give feedback to a specific team.

Useful Language (6-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will send students to breakout rooms to interview their partners about their daily routines. Students will be using the vocabulary about questions and how to answer with small chunks of language. I will bring the students back to the main room to provide feedback to the team that had more difficulties with the language.

Productive Task (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students will be given a link for the website Blabberize. They will be asked to create a blabber with their daily routine. Alternatively, they can prepare their speech and share it with the group. Students can share their daily routine with the group directly or through a blabber. Note: In case some students cannot make or show their blabbers they would be asked to send it as homework.

Feedback and Error Correction (5-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I will address questions and provide students with feedback according to what I previously heard during the tasks.
