Travelling time - our stories.
In this lesson, students will demonstrate their presentations about travelling and holiday time. The vocabulary foundation has been laid during the previous lesson, they also wrote the content of the presentation. The content was divided into three areas: - the place they visited - the journey and means of transport they used - the holiday activities. Their homework was to find their appropriate holiday photos to make their presentations complete and get ready to present them to their classmates. During this lesson students will demonstrate their presentations. The use of visuals may help them in speaking. The time limit for each student is 5 minutes, and this is why they were asked to prepare the presentation of only three slides.
To boost students' fluency in speaking skills
To revise vocabulary related to travelling and transport, and to make memorisation easier because of the use of visuals
Procedure (5-9 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
The teacher reminds the topic of travelling and means of transport from the previous lesson.
Task Presentation (time related to one student) (3-5 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills
Each student demonstrates their presentation, It shouldn't consist of more than three slides, not to be overloaded with photos, to focus students' attention mainly on the linguistic content of the speech, not the visual.
Language Analysis (after each presentation) (1-2 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language
If there is a new word or phrase in a presentation or a word that might be difficult for other students, the teacher elicit this word. Then asks the student to demonstrate the slide where the word has been used. After that, she asks the student for clarification of the word and finally writes it down on a blackboard.
